Roles & Objectives 

As an Intern you will be part of our Prototyping Department for Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna S.p.A and will be reporting to Sr Lead Product & Process Innovation. 

The position will be based in Bologna. 

The candidate will join Prototyping team, aiming to contribute in expanding the existing product portfolio and to develop new product design. In this team, product and process experts collaborate with project management specialists, leveraging on cross-functional approach, to perform feasibility analyses, proof of concept and new design verification, respecting time scheduling, quality and safety requirements.  

In your role, you will be responsible to support the project team members in scouting new innovative materials and technologies with the scope to propose new statistical tools able to correlate material properties, technologies and process setting and their impact on final outputs. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Understand the project scope and the stakeholder’s requirements, collaborating with colleagues and team members to achieve project goals. 

  • Collect the results from investigations, perform research and analysis on prototypes data, statistically evaluate main correlations between input and output and propose robust test plan to deep dive in the assessment. 

  • To study chemical, physical and mechanical properties of innovative materials, leveraging on existing characterization capabilities and/or proposing alternative methods. 

  • To deliver statistical tools able to predict the product and process performance of new innovative materials and speed up the lead time to develop new products. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team and provide regular updates on the main achievements. 

Who we’re looking for  

 

We’re looking for a candidate with: 

 

  • Degree in Industrial/Chemical/Materials Engineering or similar 

  • Problem solving attitude, analytical Mindset and scientific-based approach 

  • Knowledge on advanced statistical techniques (DoEs, multivariate analysis, regressions, ecc) 

  • Proactivity, curiosity and willingness to learn 

  • Effective communication, fluent in Italian and English 

  • Collaborative approach, team working with experts and colleagues from other function
