Roles & Objectives

As an Intern you will be part of our Prototyping Department for Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna S.p.A. and will be reporting to the Sr Lead Product & Process Innovation.

The position will be based in Bologna (Zola Predosa).

The candidate will join the Prototyping team, contributing to expand the existing product portfolio and to develop new product designs. In this team, product and process experts collaborate with project management specialists, leveraging a cross-functional approach to perform feasibility analyses, proof of concept and new design verification, respecting time scheduling, quality and safety requirements.

In your role, you will be responsible for participating with colleagues and project team members in developing innovative products and scouting new technologies from early-stage investigations to the verification of the best candidate proposal.

Specific Responsibilities

• Analyze and transform insights into value by collecting investigation results, evaluating prototype data, identifying key statistical correlations, and proposing robust test plans to further strengthen the assessment.
• Explore and characterize innovative materials, studying their chemical, physical, and mechanical properties by leveraging existing capabilities and suggesting alternative methods when needed.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to shared goals and providing clear, regular updates on progress and key achievements.
• Gain a deep understanding of the project scope and stakeholders’ requirements, actively collaborating with colleagues and team members to successfully drive project outcomes.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a candidate with:

• Degree in Industrial/Chemical/Materials Engineering or similar
• Problem-solving attitude, analytical mindset and scientific-based approach
• Knowledge of statistical analysis
• Proactivity, curiosity and willingness to learn
• Effective communication, fluent in Italian and English
• Collaborative approach, teamwork with experts and colleagues from other functions
