Your 'day to day'

As a Math and Product AI Senior Engineer, you will lead the development and implementation of advanced mathematical and AI solutions to complex product and operational challenges, as well as strategically drive innovation, mentor team members, and bridge innovative research with practical applications. You will ensure successful delivery of impactful, data-driven solutions that align with the company’s objectives by collaborating across R&D, product development, and data science teams. Moreover you will own strategies related to the implementation of novel technologies reinforcing and enabling the enriching & optimization of PMI ecosystems’ analytics solutions, in order to meet business needs, as well as provide support by assessing their analytical requirements, identifying business needs and opportunities for analytics solution development in line with company’s sustainable growth ambitions. You will ensure scalability and customer-centricity of analytical products, and supervise fast prototyping capabilities.

More specifically, you'll

•    Ensure Advanced Mathematical and AI Model Development. Design and lead the creation of complex mathematical models to solve high-impact business and product challenges. Develop and deploy advanced AI/ML models, using techniques such as deep learning, probabilistic modeling, and optimization algorithms. Lead feasibility studies and simulations to inform product innovation and operational improvements. Identify, evaluate, develop, implement and maintain novel AI/ML approaches.

•    Be responsible for Strategic Leadership. Define technical strategies and guide the application of mathematical and AI methodologies across projects. Act as an inspiring leader in identifying emerging trends and technologies relevant to the organization. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of excellence according to PMI principles.

•    Provide Product and Process Innovation. Drive innovation by integrating AI and mathematical insights into product development and optimization workflows. Collaborate with product teams to design experiments and prototypes that leverage AI for enhanced functionality and performance. Establish metrics to evaluate product efficiency, quality, and user impact. Conduct knowledge transfer to other teams to ensure optimal use of novel approaches.

•   Work on Product and Process Innovation. Drive innovation by integrating AI and mathematical insights into product development and optimization workflows. Collaborate with product teams to design experiments and prototypes that leverage AI for enhanced functionality and performance. Establish metrics to evaluate product efficiency, quality, and user impact. Conduct knowledge transfer to other teams to ensure optimal use of novel approaches.

•  Operate in Research and Development. Conduct and oversee research in applied mathematics, AI, and machine learning to explore innovative solutions. Publish findings, file patents, or contribute to industry-wide thought leadership. Develop and maintain proprietary tools and frameworks to accelerate the adoption of advanced techniques within the organization.

Who we're looking for

•    Master’s or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

•    Minimum 5 years’ experience in tobacco or consumer goods industry, in Applied Data Science, AI/ML and Mathematical Modeling, as well as specialist level knowledge in specific technology area(s).

•    Expertise in AI/ML libraries and frameworks.

•    Demonstrated expertise in solving complex real-world problems with advanced mathematical and AI techniques.

•    Sound understanding of key processes in technology delivery.

•    Exposure to International environment. Confirmed leadership in technical project management, team mentoring, or multi-functional collaboration.

•   Strong Collaboration skills, Agility and Entrepreneurship.

•   Sound analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to learn on the fly. Great attention to details and natural willingness to challenge the status quo.

•   Advanced proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, MATLAB, or Julia.

•   Strong written and verbal English communicator with the ability to influence.
