THE OPPORTUNITY
At PMI, we are transforming our business to deliver a smoke-free future. To support this ambition, we are looking for a Manager Commercial Capability Development to elevate the capabilities of our commercial teams and drive performance across markets.

 

In this role, you will design, implement, and continuously optimize capability-building strategies that enable teams to translate commercial ambitions into operational excellence and measurable results. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in commercial strategy, category management, capability building, or learning & development within a business context, who enjoy working cross-functionally and driving impact through people development.

 

Responsibilities of this role:

  • Capability Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute capability-building strategies aligned with commercial and business priorities, translate business needs into targeted learning outcomes and structured development plans, and continuously refine capability frameworks to support evolving market demands.
  • Competency Framework Development: Build, maintain, and evolve functional competency frameworks across commercial functions, use workforce insights and demand data to identify capability gaps and priorities, and ensure frameworks enable measurable performance improvement and business growth.
  • Program Design & Deployment: Design and roll out training programs and development initiatives across markets, coordinate end-to-end execution of capability-building initiatives with clear KPIs, and ensure effective adoption through structured deployment and change management.
  • Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Define and track performance metrics and ROI of capability programs, translate data into actionable insights to optimize learning investments, and drive continuous improvement of programs based on feedback and analytics
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across commercial, marketing, HR, and external partners, lead or contribute to complex, cross-functional projects, and provide expertise and guidance to junior colleagues and project teams.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

 

We are targeting professionals with backgrounds such as Commercial Excellence / Sales Strategy / Category Management, Learning & Development or Capability Building in a business contextManagement Consulting (focus on transformation, people, or commercial effectiveness), and Business Intelligence or Performance Optimization roles .

 

  • University degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Economics, Marketing, or related field
  • Proven experience in capability development, training design, or commercial strategy execution
  • Strong project management experience with ability to deliver mid- to large-scale initiatives
  • Experience working in cross-functional, international environments
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect capability investments to business outcomes
  • Strong analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Structured problem-solving and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Curiosity and openness to innovation, including the use of AI tools in capability building
  • Technical expertise such as: Performance measurement and data analysis, Strategic workforce planning and learning strategy, Training program development and deployment, Competency framework design and implementation, and Budget management and ROI tracking.
