Your ‘day to day’: 

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems, Sustainability programs, and EHS Pillar tools, aligned with OGSM, business needs, and legal requirements.

  • Develop and implement a proactive loss prevention program (risk identification, assessment, and control; inspections; audits; emergency planning).

  • Ensure Sustainability management systems and programs are appropriate for the factory's risk profile, responsibilities are clear, and continuous improvement is in place.

  • Execute and monitor the factory’s Sustainability and EHS Pillar plans to ensure risk reduction and compliance.

  • Ensure technical certification and legal compliance of all new equipment.

  • Develop and deploy tools/systems for permanent contractors to ensure alignment with the ZERO incidents goal.

  • Act as the professional reference and point of contact for all Sustainability matters.

  • Contribute to factory-level Sustainability strategy linked to Open+/IOS.

  • Lead and coordinate local Sustainability projects and serve as liaison with global product owners and affiliates using Digi Principles and VSU methodology.

  • Act as a role model of Safety and Sustainability through a Learn-Do-Teach approach.

  • Support development of autonomous/self-sufficient teams through EHS Pillar capabilities and line structures.

  • Drive the organization towards a mature safety culture (Bradley Curve) and ZERO Sustainability incidents.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Sustainability and EHS Pillar training modules based on identified needs and aligned with the Zero Loss Journey and Open+ phase deployment.

  • Maintain training records for employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure understanding of Sustainability responsibilities.

  • Coach and advise managers and supervisors to promote employee engagement with Sustainability policies and procedures.

  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations in accordance with Sustainability Incident Management (SIM) processes, using IPS/UPS analysis.

  • Maintain incident/accident records and reporting for root cause analysis and prevention.

  • Use benchmarking, audits, incident investigations, and process changes to drive system improvements.

  • Ensure consistent communication and replication of learnings from incidents, audits, and best practices.

  • Coordinate initiatives to reduce emissions, waste, and resource consumption, contributing to a carbon-neutral factory.

  • Monitor and analyze environmental performance indicators, highlighting improvement areas.

  • Participate in budget planning to address legal gaps, non-compliance, and Sustainability performance improvements.

  • Monitor regulatory requirements and emerging technologies to ensure up-to-date compliance with Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental standards.

  • Collaborate with the company medical doctor to identify and manage potential workplace health issues.

  • Ensure contractor compliance with legal and company Sustainability requirements.

  • Provide expert guidance on PPE and working tool selection.

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of Sustainability and EHS Pillar performance to factory management, clusters, regions, and the OC Sustainability department.

  • Ensure straightforward and consistent communication of findings, best practices, and lessons learned.

  • Implement and regularly test emergency preparedness programs to mitigate losses from emergency incidents, in line with PMI definitions.

 

Who we’re looking for: 

  • MUST BE: Legally authorized to work in the U.S. 

  • MUST BE: Local to Wilson, NC

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Science or technical certification with equivalent education

  • Adequate qualification in Sustainability (EHS) with local legal requirements

  • Advanced knowledge in Risk Assessment.

  • Ability to Implement/sustain ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001.

  • LOTO and Machinery Safety (legal and BIC solutions

  • Problem Solving / Investigation / Analytical thinking.

  • Project management basic skills.

  • AWS and Carbon Neutrality knowledge is a plus.

  • Lean Management System/Tools (internal IWS).
