ABOUT THE ROLE

 

 

As a financial Analyst, you will support the Company's local accounting and reporting activities, including those required under the Canada Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) plan, and be responsible for the preparation of the Company's balance sheet and working capital forecast.

 

 

 

YOUR DAY TO DAY

 

  • Assist the Manager of Financial Accounting and Reporting by providing analytical support following CCAA protection. Responsibilities include submitting statutory accounts, preparing actual and forecasted cash flows, developing five-year financial forecasts, and analyzing variances against projections. Additionally, support the calculation of settlements by the CCAA plan and assist with settlement accounting. Also contribute to more complex financial projection modeling.
  • Prepare local legal entity financial statements and related variance analysis. Submit required filings to local authorities (e.g., Statistics Canada, recycling fees) and perform ad hoc analyses as needed.
  • Prepare Working Capital and Balance Sheet Forecasts. This involves coordinating with all counterparts to collect data and assumptions, preparing for local management reviews and regional proposals, inputting data into global systems (GMRB), and preparing variance analysis.  Present proposal and analysis to Finance Management.
  • Perform accounting and reporting activities for RBH's property, ensuring compliance with the Company's accounting and SOX standards. Liaise with external property accountants on all financial matters and work with the external property manager to promptly identify and resolve issues. Coordinate and prepare Original Budgets (OB) and Rolling Forecasts (RFs), from collecting input and formulating assumptions to presenting the budget/forecast to Finance management, including variance analysis.
  • Act as the Affiliate Lease Administrator, ensuring that lease accounting complies with the relevant accounting standards. Ensure data is up to date in the system and regularly monitor the GL accounts to ensure proper lease classification.
  • Provide support for all financial audits by coordinating with internal and external auditors, regulators, and business partners. This includes collecting necessary information and assisting in resolving inquiries.
  • Coordinate with various internal stakeholders on fixed assets count by the Company's Independent Asset Counts Standard.
  • Continuously support and contribute to the improvement of systems and work methodologies to ensure that finance processes are effective, efficient, and adaptable to evolving business needs. Implement improvement initiatives and support the investigation of issues identified in financial processes.

 

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • Accounting designation or certification in progress
  • Solid work experience in Finance and Accounting ~3 years
  • Prior experience as a Financial Analyst in a multinational company following US GAAP
  • Possess strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
  • Proficient in Excel, with modeling skills being an added advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in SAP and global financial and reporting systems.
  • Experience in lessor property accounting is a plus.
  • Exhibit great learning agility and the ability to work effectively under tight and conflicting deadlines.

This position has a split Salary grade; the salary starts at $84,920 up to $95,380
