The Role
In this role, you would be expected to develop corporate equity strategies and strategic communication
campaigns with a focus on external audiences and stakeholders to maximize long-term value creation in
society, enhance corporate reputation and help build public support for corporate initiatives and business
strategies. This includes fostering and managing constructive relationships with civil society and other
stakeholder groups to enhance their perception of our business and to further our Company objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Strategy Development:
Lead a team to develop comprehensive impact-oriented CSR, ESG and corporate equity strategies for
sustainable long-term value creation for the Japan society and key stakeholder groups. Ensure that these
strategies are developed in alignment with the company’s vision, business objectives and public policy
strategies. Contribute to solving social issues and enhancing corporate value through the evaluation and
improvement of existing programs and the launch of new programs. Develop and deploy successful
grassroots and other activation campaigns to increase awareness and endorsement for the company and the
company’s business and policy objectives.
Implementation and Compliance Oversight:
Steer and ensure the team’s timely execution of the approved strategies and campaigns, in strict accordance
with relevant laws, regulations, and PMI’s internal policies and standards. Carry out all of the activities
ensuring that PMI Compliance Policies, standards, and laws relating to these activities are fully respected,
integrated and understood by stakeholders, and implement adequate processes to ensure the protection of
information of a confidential nature.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including policy influencers, industry
partners, NPOs, NGOs, local communities, and government agencies, to address social, economic, and
environmental challenges. Identify, nurture and grow relationships in the civil society space, identifying new
advocates and bringing them to the public debate in our journey toward a smoke-free future.
Strategic Communications:
In close collaboration with Corporate Communications, formulate and execute external communication
strategies to effectively articulate social contributions and enhance corporate equity, ensuring consistent but
tailored messaging across channels.
Internal Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with relevant departments within PMJ and PMI global and regional headquarters on
strategy development and implementation, as well as stakeholder engagements and activations.
Team Management:
Develop high performing teams, through robust capability building, talent plans, cultural engagement and
organization health premised on the PMI DNA. Setting high, yet clear expectations, instilling drive for results
and excellence in execution through individual performance and team delivery alike. Actively coach and
working with team members to think strategically, problem solve, strengthen critical skills and competencies
enabling them to perform at their best.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Preferable working experience in/around Japanese governments on regulatory compliance issues
 Understanding of legal framework and politics of Japanese governments
 Proven capability as a project leader, also from cross functional teams and projects
 Fluency in both English and Japanese.
 Strong business acumen with strategic and logical thinking, and highly effective analytic skills
 Must have excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) with the ability to
effectively present ideas, and influence and negotiate with others.
