The Role
Serve as the central coordinator and strategic lead for engagement with political stakeholders at national and local government levels. This role acts as the command center for regulatory and policy engagement, while also working with the Public Affairs team to strategically expand and align local social contribution programs with broader government relations objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
1. Develop and execute a comprehensive government engagement strategy and roadmap for national and local political stakeholders.
2. Act as the primary liaison and coordinator for engagements with ministries, agencies, Diet members, and local governments related to regulatory and policy discussions.
3. Serve as the internal command tower for regulatory discussions, ensuring alignment across PMI/PMJ, regional, and global stakeholders.
4. Proactively communicate company positions on regulation, taxation, and policy in a consistent and strategic manner.
5. Work closely with the Public Affairs team to design, expand, and strategically position local social contribution programs that strengthen trust and long-term relationships with local governments.
6. Monitor political developments and regulatory trends at both national and local levels, providing timely insights to senior management.
7. Support preparation of briefing materials, policy proposals, and engagement strategies for senior leadership meetings with political stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferable working experience in/around Japanese governments or parliament
- Understanding of legal framework and politics of Japanese governments
- Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and implementation skills
- Strong business acumen with strategic and logical thinking, and highly effective analytic skills are required.
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) in Japanese and English with the ability to effectively present ideas, and influence and negotiate with others.
- Graduate and/or undergraduate degree
