The Role
The Data Enablement Manager leads the engineering and operational excellence of Japan’s Enterprise Cloud Data Platform, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable data foundations for analytics, digital products, and web applications. The role owns data pipelines, APIs, and platform services, driving high engineering standards, reusable patterns, and strong alignment with global architecture. It also provides technical leadership to teams and partners across functions to deliver production‑ready, business‑impacting data solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Data Pipeline & Platform Engineering
- Lead the design, build, and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines for Japan’s Data Platform.
- Enforce ingestion/processing standards and maintain platform SLOs with proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Automate data ingestion and operations to ensure timely, reliable data availability.
- Run MLOps (model/feature pipelines, deployment, monitoring, lifecycle) to productionize ML solutions.
Architecture, Governance & Alignment
- Align solutions with enterprise architecture; leverage the latest platform capabilities.
- Represent Japan in the global Architecture Review Board for inputs and approvals.
- Define and enforce engineering standards & best practices (modular design, testing, code reviews, version control).
- Ensure security, compliance, and privacy by design.
Data Products & Web Application Enablement
- Enable data products and web apps with scalable datasets and reusable data services.
- Collaborate with product/engineering to meet requirements across React/Angular/.NET and cloud (e.g., AWS).
- Lead API & microservices design (contracts, SLAs, versioning) for performant, secure integrations.
Data Quality, Integrity & Stewardship
- Set and enforce data quality standards; ensure high availability and integrity for analytics and reporting.
- Maintain data flows for local applications/master data tools and plan migrations to global platforms.
- Implement metadata, lineage, and access controls to support trust and auditability.
- Ensure compliant data storage/processing aligned to legislation and company policies.
Cross‑Market Synergies & Pattern Re‑use
- Identify reusable patterns across markets and drive adoption of shared components.
- Build and maintain reusable frameworks (pipeline templates, API patterns, data contracts).
- Promote standardization to accelerate delivery and reduce cost/complexity.
- Import proven practices from other markets to benefit Japan.
Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery
- Partner with stakeholders to prioritize data requirements and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
- Ensure platform services meet consumer expectations for stability, scalability, and integration.
- Provide transparent status, trade‑offs, and recommendations to business and technology partners.
Agile Delivery & Governance
- Own the engineering backlog; balance pipelines, APIs, apps, and enabling work.
- Plan and run sprints; define “done” criteria and enforce documentation/quality gates.
- Track delivery health (throughput, defects, uptime) and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and escalations with clear, timely communication.
People Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship; grow engineering capabilities.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
