Position Overview:
The Senior Tax Analyst, Tobacco & Nicotine Reporting is responsible for the preparation, validation, and timely submission of highly regulated federal and state tobacco and nicotine reports. This role supports a complex portfolio of smoke-free, smokeless, and nicotine products and ensures full compliance with reporting regimes such as the PACT Act and other state-specific tobacco and nicotine reporting requirements. The position plays a critical role in maintaining license-to-operate and data integrity in a heavily scrutinized regulatory environment.
Your Day to Day:
A. Tobacco & Nicotine Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare and submit recurring federal, state, and local tobacco and nicotine regulatory reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and on-time filing.
- Compile shipment, product, customer, and jurisdictional data required for PACT Act and similar regulatory reporting obligations.
- Perform detailed data validation and reconciliations between source systems (ERP, logistics, reporting tools) and submitted reports.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation supporting all regulatory submissions and data assumptions.
- Monitor changes in reporting formats, deadlines, and data requirements and escalate potential impacts to the Senior Manager.
B. Controls, Audit & Regulator Support
- Support responses to information requests, audits, and inquiries from federal and state regulators and tax administrators.
- Execute internal controls related to reporting sign-offs, version control, and evidence retention.
- Assist with root-cause analysis and remediation of reporting errors or late filings, including implementation of corrective actions.
C. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and automation in collaboration with IT and Data & Insights teams.
- Partner closely with Legal, External Affairs, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to ensure accurate interpretation of reporting requirements.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and reporting calendars.
Who we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in regulatory reporting, tax operations, or compliance within a regulated industry.
- Direct experience with tobacco, smokeless tobacco, nicotine, or other highly regulated consumer products strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and reconcile large data sets from multiple systems.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet strict regulatory deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Fluent in English
Annual Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $110,000
