Position Overview:

The Leave Management Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and support services for employees' of leave of absence (LOA) and other accommodation requests for both union and salaried employees. Services include advising employees and managers on all (LOA) policies and processes (i.e. FMLA, Military, Jury, Bereavement, Bonding Leave, Disability, Workers Compensation, etc.), coordinating benefits, supporting Human Resources, payroll/HRIS updates, employee and manager communications, and case tracking.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Ensure accurate full cycle administration of the company's disability and time off programs by interpreting leave policies, coordinating with workers' compensation and ADA where applicable, and liaising with employees, managers, and vendor contacts.
  • Drive successful resolution of leave cases by monitoring claims and facilitating employee transition from short-term to long-term disability, and coordinating return-to-work activities. 
  • Ensure proper pay and benefits coverage for employees on leave. 
  • Utilize HRIS, payroll system, and web-based vendor software as needed to input and update leave data and generate reports. 
  • Effectively support all LOA cases with the provisions of FMLA, ADA, ADAAA, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), COBRA, HIPAA, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the Department of Labor (DOL). 
  • Support workplace accommodation requests for employee health conditions and properly engage with employees in the interactive process, accurately documenting the process concerning reasonable accommodations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the P&C and benefits team, managers, employees, and service providers.
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely responses while offering education along with expert guidance to all potential (LOA) inquiries.
  • Coordinate and organize all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed.
  • Attend educational webinars and workshops to continue to stay up to date on the changing environment of (LOA) administration.
  • Research best practices and develop recommendations for implementing new or enhanced existing leave programs. 

 

Who we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in claims management, leave of absence administration, and ADA accommodation administration.
  • CDMS (Certified Disability Management Specialist) or CCM (Certified Case Manager) preferred.
  • Must be willing to obtain CLMS Certification or Case Management Certification within the 1st year of employment.
  • Technology background experience in benefit administration, payroll, and/or HRIS reporting systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze, problem solve, organize, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent written skills, including ability to develop accurate business correspondence, HR documentation, forms, and communication materials. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including ability to establish credibility and trust with management/leadership and handle difficult situations with diplomacy and professionalism. 
  • Project management skills and the ability to multi-task by managing the dynamic needs and priorities of multiple clients.
  • Innovative, adaptable collaborator able to adjust focus and attend quickly to changes in team priorities.
  • Independent judgment, a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. 
  • Ability to research best practices and develops recommendations for implementing new or enhanced existing leave programs. 
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Fluent in English

 

Annual Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $110,000
