About the job

ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Lead a small to mid-sized team delivering analytics datasets and ML feature pipelines.
• Own data engineering planning, prioritization, and resource allocation aligned with product goals.
• Oversee daily operations of data engineers to ensuring reliable data engineering delivery.
• Maintain and enhance integrated data warehouse solutions.
• Enforce standards and guardrails across data engineering stages.
• Promote operational excellence and coach data engineers on performance and reliability.
• Mentor data engineers to foster technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support hiring, reviews, and career development for team growth.
• Promote reuse-first practices and retire duplicate solutions.
• Drive best practices for scalable data foundations and products.
• Ensure alignment across data, architecture, and platform teams.
• Encourage safe use of AI assistants for development acceleration.
• Institutionalize reusable AI patterns for consistency and scalability.
• Maintain technical literacy to review designs and ensure compliance.
• Champion engineering excellence in all data outputs.
• Enable enterprise AI through robust data pipelines and infrastructure.

KNOW-HOW:

• Ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders with coaching and conflict resolution.
• Coordinate delivery with vendors and managers for planning and budgeting.
• Understand DPaaS, DEEP, and analytics platforms to guide teams effectively.
• Apply basic ModelOps to review designs and coordinate deployments.
• Design data warehouse architecture and integrate ML workflows.
• Optimize ETL processes with verification, backup, and recovery.
• Translate requirements into optimized physical data models.
• Maintain engineering standards for consistent delivery and compliance.
• Contribute to engineering standards via Community of Practice.
• Design and manage scalable EMR / Apache Spark Pipelines

PROBLEM SOLVING & COMPLEXITY

• Remove blockers and resolve operational issues for predictable delivery.
• Diagnose and fix complex cross-system problems and prevent recurrence.
• Make autonomous decisions balancing speed, quality, and cost.
• Triage and remediate integration and performance issues.
• Investigate and resolve defects in pipelines and endpoints.
• Apply root-cause analysis and implement measurable fixes.
