Role summary:

 

As Manager Regulatory Affairs, you will execute Swedish Match’s regulatory strategy in Sweden, supporting the delivery of a smoke-free future. You will develop and implement regulatory affairs plans, engage directly with external stakeholders, and promote effective policy changes that align with business objectives. You will play a key part in advancing tobacco harm reduction, collaborating with external partners, and maintaining strong relationships across the regulatory and political landscape to foster a favourable business environment.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Political Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at all levels. Identify influential partners, engage proactively to advance the company’s regulatory and fiscal goals, and use political events and opportunities to promote business objectives. Additionally, the Regulatory Affairs Manager will stay informed about upcoming political events and use these opportunities to promote the company's regulatory and fiscal objectives through strategic planning and engagement with political candidates and their teams.

 

Legislative & Political Analysis and Monitoring: Analyse and map legislative processes, conduct intelligence studies to understand detractors, and monitor political developments to inform regulatory strategy.

 

Campaign Management: in cooperation with the Sr. Manager, develop and implement grassroots and grass top campaigns, and respond to misinformation. The Manager will need to create and implement campaigns that engage stakeholders at various levels, from grassroots to grass top. This includes digital campaigns aimed at addressing misinformation and promoting the company's initiatives.

 

Regulatory Approvals and Compliance: Lead all aspects of regulatory approvals for new products and price changes and ensure all marketing materials meet compliance standards before internal use. Draft and submit PMI’s comments on proposed regulations and take part in public consultations to shape regulatory decisions.

 

Compliance: Ensure all government relations activities follow relevant laws, regulations, and PMI’s internal policies and standards.

 

Industry Relations: Develop and manage relationships with industry and business associations, consumer groups, and competitors within the tobacco/vaping industry association. This includes managing relationships with other industries facing similar regulatory and fiscal issues, ensuring that the company is well-represented and its interests are protected in industry-wide discussions and negotiations.

 

Who you are:

 

  • Undergraduate and Master's degree, preferably in directly related field of Public Policy, Political Science, Finance, Business, Economics, Law or a related field.
  • 5+ years of working in regulatory (and/or fiscal) strategies and direct interaction with government institutions, regulatory authorities,
  • 5+ years working in highly regulated sectors or industries such as pharma, chemical, energy and or construction
  • Political background, either local, regional or country level.
  • Fluency in English and Swedish required.

 

In order to be successful in this role you need to have a deep understanding of the regulatory field in Sweden, national and local, as well as at EU level.
