Our 10-week Summer Internship Program provides students with hands-on experience, meaningful project work, professional development opportunities, networking events, and exposure to leaders across the business. Interns contribute to real initiatives that drive business results while developing valuable skills that support future career success.

About Communications & Corporate Development
The Communications & Corporate Development team shapes how PMI U.S. shares its story with employees, consumers, media, community partners, and other external stakeholders. Through strategic communications, thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management, the team helps advance business priorities and support PMI U.S.'s mission of delivering a smoke-free future.
This function offers exposure to a variety of communications disciplines, including internal communications, digital and social media, executive communications, corporate storytelling, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement. Interns will gain hands-on experience developing content, supporting campaigns, analyzing performance metrics, and helping tell the story of one of the most significant business transformations in the world.
Your Day-to-Day May Look Like:
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Develop engaging content for internal and external audiences.
- Draft articles, announcements, presentations, newsletters, emails, and digital communications.
- Support the creation of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and visual storytelling assets.
- Assist with executive and leadership communications.
- Help bring PMI U.S.'s smoke-free transformation story to life through compelling narratives and content.
Social Media & Digital Communications
- Support content planning, scheduling, and execution across social media channels, including LinkedIn.
- Research social media trends, industry best practices, and emerging communication tools.
- Monitor performance metrics and audience engagement.
- Generate recommendations to improve content effectiveness and reach.
Internal Communications
- Support employee communications and engagement initiatives.
- Assist in developing content that promotes company culture, business updates, and organizational priorities.
- Help ensure consistency of messaging and brand voice across communication channels.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee understanding and engagement.
Research & Insights
- Conduct communications, media, and industry research.
- Perform competitive benchmarking and identify emerging trends.
- Track communication campaign performance and audience engagement metrics.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to develop actionable recommendations.
Civil Society & External Engagement
- Contribute to projects supporting PMI U.S.'s engagement with civil society organizations, community partners, and external stakeholders.
- Assist with stakeholder research and communications initiatives that support business objectives.
- Help identify opportunities to strengthen relationships and advance corporate reputation efforts.
Cross-Functional Projects
- Collaborate with teams across Communications, Commercial, People & Culture, and Corporate Affairs.
- Participate in strategic projects that support business priorities and organizational objectives.
- Present project outcomes, insights, and recommendations to leaders at the conclusion of the internship.
Who We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program.
- Expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Business, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience creating content for social media, student organizations, publications, brands, or campus initiatives.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and digital collaboration tools.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, or similar creative tools is a plus.
- Interest in corporate communications, public affairs, brand storytelling, stakeholder engagement, or digital marketing.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation
Hourly Base Salary Range: $32–34/hour
