Your ‘day to day’:
The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements of the U.S. Corporate legal entities in accordance with GAAP. This role serves as a key liaison with vendors and internal stakeholders, particularly in relation to pension plans, U.S. government reporting, and the American Express corporate card program. As a valued business partner across multiple functions within the Stamford office, the Senior Accounting Specialist will frequently provide financial expertise on a variety of projects and inquiries.
Responsibilities include:
- Review of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and closing activities of the U.S. Corporate legal entities, ensuring completeness and conformity with U.S. GAAP.
- Close and effective collaboration with the Global Business Solutions team to support decision-making.
- Execution of the Defined Benefit and Contribution Plan Activities, including monthly funding, payment of quarterly billings, and annual rebalancing of investments. Reporting plan experience to the PMI Pension Committee and preparing financial statements and footnotes for year-end audit and SEC 11k filing.
- Submission of government reports for the Federal Reserve, BEA, and U.S. Census Bureau. This includes publishing an annual calendar, a quarterly review of all reporting instructions for changes to forms or reporting (and communication of changes), and administration of reports in the three online portals.
- Administration of the American Express corporate, BTA, and purchasing card programs. This includes the issuance of new cards, review of monthly incentive tracking, resolution of employee issues, and cancellation of cards.
- Work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders and support them on ad-hoc finance inquiries and special projects.
Who we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in accounting roles, working with general ledgers, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Public company experience preferred
- Knowledge of defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans
- Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, Workiva
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and highly collaborative
- Detail-oriented individual who can work independently
- Robust analytical skills
- Fluent in English
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Annual Base Salary Range: $105,600-$132,000
