Position Overview
The Director, Media & Owned is a senior leadership role within the PMI U.S. Communications function, responsible for developing and executing a cohesive content strategy across all paid and owned channels. This position plays a critical role in shaping the organization's narrative, strengthening reputation, and ensuring consistent, transparent, and engaging communication with internal and external audiences. The Director oversees the creation, management, and distribution of content that aligns with organizational goals and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy for all paid and owned media channels, including the corporate website, social platforms, and executive communications.
- Build, develop, lead and mentor a high-performing content team to produce high-quality, accurate, regular and timely content that supports communications objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional partners to identify content strategies and programs that advance organizational priorities and foster engagement.
- Drive the strategic development of an editorial and paid content calendar, aligning both earned, owned and paid opportunities across our paid and owned channels, inclusive of:
- Oversight of the development and management of editorial calendars and a regular cadence of news across PMI U.S.’s owned channels (website, social media) to ensure a steady cadence of relevant and impactful stories, announcements, and thought leadership pieces.
- Manage the always-on and programmatic paid campaigns, aligning with internal and external partners to ensure creative campaign execution and delivery.
- Establish and maintain editorial standards and guidelines to ensure clarity, consistency, and voice across all communications.
- Monitor content performance through analytics and feedback, using insights to refine strategy and improve reach and engagement.
- Ensure all content adheres to legal and ethical requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues from various departments as well as external partners, such as media buyers, creative teams, and communications professionals within a matrixed organization; oversee interactions with agencies, freelancers, and other partners to complement internal resources when necessary.
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in content strategy, digital media, and corporate communications, bringing new, creative concepts and ideas on a regular and ongoing basis.
Who We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in content development, editorial management, or corporate communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Strong understanding of paid media, digital communications channels, content management systems, and analytics tools.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail and deadlines.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with demonstrated experience producing content for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire creative teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and navigate a matrixed organization.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Annual Base Salary Range: $232,000-$290,000
