PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

The Sustainability Controlling analyst supports the preparation of sustainability/non-financial reporting. The Sustainability Controlling analyst plays a significant role in establishing the sustainability reporting framework, by continuously strengthening PMI's non-financial data reporting system, actively contributing to high-quality sustainability reporting, and developing solutions to drive meaningful progress in priority sustainability reporting areas, aligned with external standards, framework, and regulatory developments. The Sustainability Controlling analyst builds synergies within Finance, Operations, Data & Analytics,  IT, as well as across business functions to ensure effective collaborative alignment, action, data collection and management. The role leverages on best practices from the financial reporting control environment to help evaluate, develop, and strengthen the governance, controls, and processes surrounding the reporting of non-financial metrics, working closely with the Sustainability Controller, Sustainability Controlling managers, and the Global Sustainability group.

 

 

SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING: Actively contribute to company’s sustainability reporting, incl. preparation of annual Value Report, external reporting indexes, questionnaires for ESG rating agencies, regulatory CSRD reporting, markets sustainability reporting, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality and accurate non-financial information and consistency across disclosures. Manage sustainability data collection, analysis, and validation with cross-functional network of internal Subject Matter Experts  (SMEs)

 

DATA MANAGEMENT: Strengthen and manage PMI’s sustainability/ non-financial data reporting system, improving quality, efficiency, and integrity. Day-to-day management of non-financial data, including on-boarding of new data sets, implementation of data standardization and alignment with external reporting requirements, documentation, performance of quality checks, compliance with governance processes. Contribute to cross-functional sustainability data projects. Support functions and markets, ensuring data collection and administration pertaining to global non-financial disclosures and in general ESG performance. 

DATA RELIABILITY, GOVERNANCE, AND ASSURANCE: Assist in coordination of  assurance of non-financial data for external reporting purposes. Liaise with PMI's internal risk functions (Internal Controls, Audit) and business owners to ensure data auditability, setting and maintaining robust governance processes and standards for non-financial data reporting. Support external assurance of non-financial data by collaborating with external assurance partners.

 ANALYTICS & STRATEGY: Contribute to strategies and products leveraging on sustainability data, including: help developing glidepaths for targets linked to executive compensation (via PSU/Value Index) and external Value Plan 2030+ targets. Prepare analyses to inform whether the plan is on track in relation to objectives and incentives.

DEVELOP SYSTEM SOLUTIONS: Contribute to a structure/system creation that enables automation, maintenance and visibility of non-financial data, deconsolidated reporting, stronger alignment with financials, anticipation of regulatory developments, and real time visibility of non-financial performance. 

 

 

Who we are looking for:

  • University degree in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Environmental Sciences or similar
  • 3+ years working experience in Finance, Business Planning, Risk, Sustainability functions.
  • Good communication skills: ability to articulate and translate into action, adapt the message to the audience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with the data sets
  • Attention to details
  • Collaboration skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Understanding of sustainability-related topics, including regulations, frameworks, standards, such as CSRD, SASB, GRI, etc. and PMI's sustainability strategy is a plus.
  • Advanced level of English spoken and written.
  • Legal permit to work in Portugal
