Senior Tooling Engineer - 12 Month Contract
Location: Shen Zhen, China
About the Role
We are seeking an Industrialization Tier-2 Engineer to support the development of tooling, components, and sub-assemblies—both manual and automated—for our Reduced-Risk Product (RRP) devices. This role focuses on meeting product mechanical design requirements and international certifications, while driving innovation in tooling concepts for plastic and metal components. You will collaborate with global stakeholders and manufacturing partners to optimize tooling design, reduce costs, and support production ramp-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop tooling and secondary processes for mechanical components.
- Drive manual and automated sub-assembly development for critical parts.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to build innovative tools and improve standards.
- Plan and schedule tooling projects, including DFM, Mold Flow Analysis, CpK, PFMEA and PPAP.
- Define tooling strategy for production ramp-up and sustaining.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards.
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- Engineering or Science degree (or equivalent technical knowledge).
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years in electronics product design (consumer electronics preferred).
- Strong background in plastic injection molding, metal injection molding, die casting, stamping, and surface treatments.
- Strong background in developing manual and automated sub-assembly processes, as well as in conducting Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualification (IOPQ).
- Proficiency in CAD design and simulation (SolidWorks preferred).
- Knowledge of large-scale production and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with tool qualification processes (DFM, Mold Flow, CpK, PPAP).
Skills:
- Project management and scheduling.
- Collaboration with external development partners.
- Functional verification and validation.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
