Your ‘day to day’
You will be employed under Philip Morris Electronics Shenzhen (PMES), a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. As a Manager - Design System Engineer you will:
- Ensure the design integrity of device systems throughout the NPI/NPD process.
- Be accountable to the Program Manager for meeting all functional, quality, safety/compliance, and documentation requirements.
- Provide integrated device system solutions and make sound technical decisions on behalf of Electrical Engineering.
- Collaborate with Product Line Owners to define product briefs and own the end-to-end Design Input Requirements (DIR).
- Guide EMS technical teams using engineering best practices and design guidelines.
- Partner with Backend Operations Project Managers to ensure seamless handoff during DVT and support through Initial Mass Supply (IMS).
- Participate in early-stage User Insight Gathering (UIG) to understand technical risks and design context.
- Translate consumer insights into technical specifications, DIR, and master test plans in collaboration with the Quality team.
- Serve as system architect and integrator from PoC through EVT to DVT, ensuring milestone fulfillment.
- Own the end-to-end design and ensure readiness for transition to production.
- Act as the technical Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for live platforms, supporting RCA, PPI, TT, and post-release activities.
- Ensure product design and specifications are complete and meet cross-functional requirements (quality, cost, performance, manufacturability, reliability, compliance).
- Address sustainability, supply chain resilience (e.g., second sourcing, geographic diversity), and technology transferability.
- Ensure timely and compliant execution of NPI/NPD deliverables in line with QMS documentation.
Who We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in system-level product development, preferably within an IoT or consumer electronics environment.
- Strong technical leadership and decision-making skills across cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of design input requirements, system integration, and product lifecycle management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
