Data Science at PMI plays a critical role in transforming data into meaningful insights and scalable analytical solutions. By applying advanced analytics, machine learning, and emerging technologies such as Generative AI, this role helps drive effective decision-making, business value creation, and PMI’s ongoing transformation.

Purpose
The Principle Data Scientist will apply advanced data science techniques to analyze data, build diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics solutions, and generate valuable insights from data.
You will work with both structured and unstructured data, using specialized programming languages, cloud platforms, and data science tools to support effective decision-making and create business value.
You will leverage novel technologies, including Generative AI, to automate and enhance data science workflows, while collaborating with data engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate data science solutions into business processes.
This role requires strong analytical thinking, technical expertise, natural curiosity, and the ability to communicate insights clearly to stakeholders through reports and visualizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply mathematics, statistics, data mining, predictive, and prescriptive modeling techniques to generate insights from data
- Develop and implement data science models using specialized programming languages and tools
- Source, prepare, and clean structured and unstructured data for analysis
- Identify, validate, and utilize internal and external data sets to support business needs
- Develop hypotheses and explore data using models and analytics sandboxes
- Evaluate and improve the performance of data science models
- Work closely with data engineers to ensure data pipelines are optimized for model training and deployment
- Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders through reports and visualizations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data science solutions into business processes
- Leverage emerging technologies, including Generative AI, to automate and enhance data science workflows

Qualifications (Technical Skills)
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly
- Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Amazon AWS including S3, EC2, and SageMaker
Preferred Qualifications
- M.Sc. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data science or a similar role
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark
- Knowledge of natural language processing techniques
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Experience with open-source data science tools and libraries
- Certifications in AWS or related technologies
- Experience with data governance and data management best practices
Other Skills
- Experience with Jupyter, Snowflake, Docker, and Atlassian suite including Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence
- Understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex analytical findings into clear business insights
- Strong teamwork and stakeholder collaboration capabilities
- Proficient in Korean and English, both verbal and written
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-moving organization
