Your day to day:


The IT Project Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and evolution of API-based integration solutions that enable PMI’s digital consumer ecosystem.

This role acts as a key technical authority within the region, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing integrations across platforms, while driving engineering excellence and aligning solutions with the broader Digital Product vision.

The position plays a critical role in connecting market needs with central architecture and product teams, enabling the delivery of seamless, consumer-centric digital experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Integration Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and continuously evolve the API and integration strategy in alignment with regional and global architecture guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Domain, Group, and Solution Architects to ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability of solutions.
  • Ensure all integrations adhere to defined architectural standards, while constructively challenging designs to drive improvements.

 

Solution Design & Delivery

  • Lead the design and implementation of API-based integrations (REST, GraphQL) for complex, consumer-facing platforms.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of integration solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and product vision.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance and reliability.

 

 

Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence

  • Act as the technical reference point for integration-related topics within the region.
  • Promote best practices in API development, lifecycle management, and security.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of modern technologies (e.g., cloud, microservices).

 

Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and external vendors to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Build strong relationships across markets, regions, and central teams to ensure alignment and execution.

 

Team Enablement & Knowledge Sharing

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to engineers (without direct people management accountability).
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure proper documentation, knowledge sharing, and reuse of integration assets.

 

Performance & Operations

  • Monitor and optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of integration issues, ensuring business continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and API lifecycle management practices.

 

 

Key Capabilities & Experience

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Solid experience in API-based integrations and enterprise-level system design.
  • Proven experience leading technical initiatives in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Experience working in Agile environments (SCRUM, KANBAN, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience in multinational environments is a plus.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in API technologies (REST, GraphQL).
  • Proficiency in Java (preferred) or Golang.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Knowledge of API security, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with tools such as Apollo GraphQL is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive decisions with incomplete information.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Clear and effective communication (technical and non-technical).
  • Proven ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.

  • Able to work from the office in Sao Paulo 1-2 days a week.
  • Integration solutions are scalable, stable, and aligned with architecture standards.
  • Strong adoption of API best practices across teams.
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders on solution quality and collaboration.
  • Reduced integration issues and improved platform performance.
  • Visible contribution to Digital Product success and consumer experience.
