We are currently looking for a Public Affairs, Regional Institutional Affairs and Sustainability Supervisor to join our Corporate Affairs department.


Your Purpose

The Public Affairs, Regional Institutional Affairs and Sustainability Supervisor will support the External Affairs function, directly reporting to the Manager Public Policy & Sustainability, in the deployment of the Public Policy & Sustainability strategy in line with the Company’s global transformation and vision. You will contribute to engagement activities with business associations, think tanks, institutions, and other relevant third parties.
You will support Public Policy activities through research and analysis on key business issues, the drafting of policy documents, and by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support business-related processes aligned with the Company’s global transformation strategy.


Your ‘Day To Day’

•    Supporting the team in defining and implementing the overall Public Policy, Regional Institutional Affairs and Sustainability strategy and action plan in Italy, with a focus on the evolution of the regulatory framework at national, European, and international level.
•    Supporting the External Affairs team in Public Policy activities by developing networking opportunities and maintaining and enhancing relationships with relevant third parties (such as research centers, think tanks, universities, business associations, and institutional stakeholders) to support the implementation of global and EU strategies at national, regional, and local level, in coordination with PM Italy External Affairs and PMI External Affairs teams in Brussels and Lausanne.
•    Managing and strengthening relationships at local and regional level with institutions, associations, and think tanks, contributing to policy positioning and stakeholder engagement across territories.
•    Monitoring and analysing key political and regulatory trends relevant to the business, identifying opportunities and threats, with a particular focus on policy debates and industry-related dossiers, including innovation, sustainability, and digitalization; coordinating the activities of consultants and external suppliers part of the made in Italy value chain.
•    Preparing materials and analytical documents (e.g., briefing notes, speeches, policy and industry studies, presentations) to support external engagement, company participation in public events, and analysis of the regulatory framework and broader national context.
•    Supporting the organization of public events and conferences with high institutional profiles and the involvement of business and national value-chain representatives.
•    Support to define and develop sustainability strategies, including: identify key sustainability priorities in line with the international integrated report and coordinate actions among PMI's affiliates in Italy; support the management of the local Governance Board on sustainability; develop programs for devices and consumables waste management; support to supervise communication campaigns on sustainability (anti-littering); collaborate with Philip Morris Manufacturing and Technology Bologna on sustainability projects; coordinate social activities.
•    Support to develop advocacy plans on regulatory issues related to sustainability engaging with institutional stakeholders and third parties; monitor and coordinate national legislation or any regulatory dossier on sustainability and the implementation in Italy of Directives on sustainability; support the participation of PMI’s affiliates in the permanent consortium to comply with the Extended Producer Responsibility.            
•    Supporting PM Italy’s participation in company associations and think tanks related to business and institutional issues, providing expertise and interacting with third parties to help secure PM Italy’s positioning.


Who we’re looking for
•    Degree in Economics, Law, Political Science, or related fields.
•    Proven experience of at least 5-6 years in External Affairs, advocacy, or Government/Regulatory Affairs roles.
•    Experience in developing studies and research.
•    Experience in building advocacy campaigns and engaging with high-level external stakeholders, including parliamentary, government, and regional officials, on complex national, local, European, and global dossiers.
•    Ability to work autonomously, taking full accountability for assigned tasks, while effectively collaborating with colleagues and cross-functional teams.
•    Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage external stakeholders and manage complex challenges.
•    Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different external stakeholders and audiences, and to operate effectively in ambiguous contexts.
•    Excellent writing skills.
•    Experience in project management.
•    Demonstrated passion for political and geopolitical topics, with the ability to connect issues, identify opportunities, and contribute to strategy development.
•    Fluency in Italian and English is mandatory.
