This position’s responsibilities include supporting the overall accuracy of the daily transactions recorded in the corporate general ledgers.  Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for corporate tangible, intangible assets and leased assets. This position will be responsible for preparation and entry of general journal entries and preparation of assigned account reconciliations.

 

Accounting for Tangible and Intangible Assets:

  • Maintain fixed asset subsidiary ledger in Sage Fixed Assets application.
  • Prepare and post monthly depreciation journal entries.
  • Perform corporate fixed assets annual physical inventory and coordinate other locations fixed assets physical count.
  • Oversee annual fixed asset physical inventory procedures for all locations.
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset flow through report.
  • Prepare monthly capital expenditure report.
  • Work with the corporate tax department for tax fixed asset activity as needed.
  • Ensure that all leases are accounted for properly according to internal policy.
  • Record necessary amortization entries for intangible assets and maintains asset records for all intangible assets.

 

Other Corporate Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Perform account reconciliations for obsolescence reserves for cigar inventory.
  • Prepare and post transfer price journal entries for cigar and smoke free products.
  • Prepare and post monthly recurring and standard journal entries in a timely manner.
  • Assist Senior Financial Analyst and Senior Accountant with more complex general ledger accounts.
  • Perform other monthly, quarterly and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare required schedules and support for internal and external auditors.
  • Review travel and purchase card expense data files received from Concur and transmit journal entries to the general ledger for all relevant legal entities. 

 

Other Key Balance Sheet Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and prepare account reconciliations for liability accounts related to payroll withholdings and employer payroll taxes, as assigned.
  • Analyze and prepare account reconciliations of brand loyalty inventory accounts. 
  • Perform analysis and prepare account reconciliations for ancillary benefits for employees, as assigned.
  • Perform analysis and prepare account reconciliations for prepaid expenses, other current receivables and other accrued expenses, as assigned.
  • Perform analysis and prepare account reconciliations for real and personal property taxes for all U.S. entities.

Other:

  • Coordination with Corporate Control and other Corporate HQ departments as required.
  • Perform special projects as may be assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Perform special projects as may be assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.

 

Who we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required. Some public accounting experience and/or CPA desired.  
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience is required, proficient in Excel and knowledge of accounting systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Annual Base Salary Range: $72k - $99k
