Your ‘day to day’
You will work as a 12 months’ fixed term contractor to support Philip Morris Electronics Shenzhen office. (PMES). PMES operates as a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. You may be required to be engaged by a 3rd party service provider to be assigned to work at PMES.
You will bring materials expertise and manufacturing experience in polymer materials to our electronic devices and accessories. You will drive materials development, and sustainability of materials to support product development projects.
- Provide guidance on material properties, reliability performance, manufacturing considerations, visual quality, sustainability and cost, to enable efficient material selections for new consumer electronics products.
- Plan & co-ordinate the Electronic Device materials research and development activities in co-operation with our manufacturing partners and other multi-functional teams.
- Liaise with Industrial Designers on material selections and potential avenues for development to support new CMF trends and design innovation.
- Support engineering validation testing of materials with collaboration with design verification team and external partners.
- Drive the trouble shooting of material related technical issues and manufacturing challenges.
- Support and assess raw material suppliers and manufacturing partners as well as develop practices and processes in collaboration with them to best support the needs of development projects.
- Participate in the technology & sustainability roadmap development of new materials and support sustainability activities.
- Lead new material feasibility study and work with multi-functional team to validate and implement new material in NPI and support MP stage.
- Respect PMI Compliance Policies, standards and laws and ensure that external partners respect them as well. Ensure the protection of information of a confidential nature at any time.
Who we’re looking for
- University degree or equivalent experience in Polymer science, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering, Ph.D. or Master degree highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years materials R&D experience in a multinational corporation in the materials industry or consumer electronics industry.
- Experience of manufacturing and decoration processes of plastics, metals and ceramics. Experience with leather and textiles is a plus.
- Experience in working with global manufacturing suppliers and large volume manufacturing products.
- Experience in sustainable materials.
- Experience in managing/collaboration with external development partners.
