As an IFMS Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable, efficient, and sustainable operation of the factory’s utilities and facilities infrastructure. Your expertise will help maintain uninterrupted production while driving energy efficiency, environmental compliance, continuous improvement, and cost optimisation.

 

Your Day To Day

Utilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of utilities systems, including electricity, steam, compressed air, gas, water and other critical services.
  • Develop, implement and optimise preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance plans, equipment documentation and maintenance records.
  • Identify opportunities to upgrade or modify equipment to improve operational performance, efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure statutory inspections, maintenance activities and reporting are completed in accordance with local legislation and PMI standards.

 

Sustainability, Compliance & Energy Management

  • Champion compliance with all PMI Sustainability, Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Management standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, PMI Quality Management Systems and all applicable legal requirements.
  • Coordinate energy inspections and statutory audits with relevant authorities and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor and optimise energy consumption across electricity, gas, steam, water and compressed air systems.
  • Track environmental performance, including water usage, wastewater discharge and CO₂ emissions, while supporting initiatives that reduce environmental impact.

 

Projects & Technology

  • Support the planning and implementation of utilities and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare technical specifications and engineering information for contractors, suppliers and project teams.
  • Evaluate emerging engineering technologies and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
  • Support continuous improvement of Building Management Systems (BMS) and other utilities control systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and recommend long-term improvements to utilities infrastructure.

Budget & Cost Management

  • Analyse utilities operating and maintenance costs to support annual budgeting and long-range planning.
  • Monitor expenditure against budget and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify productivity improvements and energy-saving initiatives that optimise operational costs while maintaining high service levels.
  • Prepare monthly reports on energy consumption, maintenance costs and utilities performance.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives that improve utilities performance, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
  • Conduct failure mode analysis following utilities breakdowns and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that improve system reliability and reduce operating costs.
  • Ensure all utilities activities comply with Change Management requirements and engineering standards.

 

 

Contractor & Service Management

  • Coordinate, supervise and evaluate the performance of contractors and outsourced service providers.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, within budget and in compliance with PMI standards.
  • Support contractor development through coaching, qualification requirements and performance management.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

 

Performance & Development

  • Deliver annual performance objectives while ensuring full compliance with PMI policies and local legislation.
  • Complete all required technical and compliance training in line with the Engineering Qualification Matrix.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and stay current with engineering best practices and emerging technologies.

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    • You are a proactive engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving operational performance and driving sustainable engineering solutions.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil or equivalent).
  • Approximately 2+ years’ engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial operations, utilities or facilities management.
  • Experience with utilities systems, engineering maintenance and asset management.
  • Exposure to contractor management and external service providers.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), utilities equipment or energy management is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
