As a key member of the People & Culture team, the Manager: P&C and Labour Relations is central to shaping the organisation’s HR generalist agenda and leading labour and employee relations throughout the business.
In this role, you will be a trusted advisor to the leadership team, working together to develop and carry out people strategies that promote business success. You will also act as the company’s representative in labour relations, negotiations, and resolving disputes. The position needs deep knowledge of Senegalese law, strong emotional intelligence, and a commercial outlook.
You’ll drive transformation, engagement, and organisational efficiency – while supporting compliance, stability, and constructive partnerships with all collaborators.
Your day to day
Strategic HR Business Partnering
- Collaborate with the P&C Director and senior functional leaders to translate business needs into impactful people strategies.
- Drive the implementation of PMI’s global P&C initiatives at a local level, tailoring approaches to meet market-specific needs and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a change agent and mentor for line managers, supporting capability building and organisation-wide transformation.
Labour & Employee Relations Leadership
- Develop and lead the affiliate’s labour relations strategy in alignment with business goals and future workforce needs.
- Lead union negotiations, wage agreements, consultations, and information-sharing sessions with employee representatives.
- Represent the organisation in disciplinary hearings and disputes.
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to assess legislation and ensure employment practices are legally sound.
- Resolve grievances and drive proactive employee engagement practices to maintain a positive and inclusive work environment.
HR Operations & Advisory
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, internal mobility, redeployment, and talent acquisition aligned to business needs.
- Provide mentorship on job profiling, headcount budget development, and case preparation for people-related proposals.
- Advise on performance management, talent reviews, development planning, and succession strategies in partnership with line leaders.
Organisational Efficiency & DE&I
- Assess internal workforce trends and provide data-driven recommendations to support growth, agility, and retention.
- Lead the Employment Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (DE&I) agenda.
- Promote fair, ethical, and inclusive environment practices across the business.
What we are looking for
- Grade 12 and a relevant degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or Industrial Psychology
- Formal accredited qualification in Labour/Employee Relations is crucial.
- Minimum of 8+ years’ progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a HR senior generalist and/or labour relations role.
- Deep knowledge of Senegalese labour legislation, bargaining structures, and union engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex employee relations issues with discretion, empathy, and strategic foresight.
