Our ZYN Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment. This role oversees maintenance personnel, schedules work, supports troubleshooting efforts, and drives continuous improvement initiatives within the department. Our Supervisor plays a key role in equipment reliability, workforce development, and maintaining a high standard of safety and operational excellence.
This position sits with our Swedish Match affiliate.
Your ‘day to day’
- Maintain a safe work environment and promote safe work habits among all assigned employees.
- Analyze operational needs and recommend improvements for efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment.
- Schedule, oversee, and optimize the performance of maintenance personnel assigned to ZYN.
- Lead, motivate, and coordinate team activities to maximize productivity and achieve department goals.
- Support production goals by reducing labor costs and ensuring optimal machine utilization.
- Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., problem‑solving, 5S).
- Ensure employees are properly trained and consistently follow safe work practices.
- Maintain inventory and safe storage of maintenance materials; implement efficient storage procedures.
- Oversee training, discipline, performance evaluation, and skill development of maintenance personnel; conduct periodic performance reviews.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed effectively and machinery in assigned areas operates reliably.
- Assist with development, installation, and integration of new machinery into production processes.
- Apply new technologies and proven systems to reduce process variation and improve department performance.
- Maintain accurate payroll, attendance, performance, and disciplinary records for assigned staff.
- Work a flexible schedule, including time across all shifts as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of the labor contract and ensure operations comply with contractual requirements.
- Monitor equipment condition; schedule preventive maintenance and repairs to maximize uptime; ensure adequate spare parts and overhaul readiness.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance and production teams to maximize performance of all packing equipment and processes.
Who we’re looking for:
Education
- Vocational school graduate or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years mechanical and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Competencies
- Strong communication and coaching abilities.
- Ability to schedule work, train employees, assess competency, and take corrective action when needed.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance and reliability techniques.
- Experienced in managing maintenance activities through a CMMS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with machinery repair, including electrical and programming-related issues.
- Hands-on work style with a strong Continuous Improvement mindset and background.
Other Requirements
- Must complete the Nocti Test for evaluation.
- Ability to understand and interpret the current labor contract.
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete for extended periods.
Annual Base Salary Range: $ 88,000 - $110,000
