The Process & Control Engineering Manager (Sub Level 2) leads large, complex engineering projects and oversees cross functional production processes with significant impact on departmental and operational performance. This role is responsible for ensuring that processes, equipment, and supporting technologies across the plant are efficient, sustainable, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. The manager serves as a key influencer in process strategy, documentation standards, operational planning, and continuous improvement initiatives while providing high level technical leadership to engineering and production teams.
This position sits with our Swedish Match affiliate.
Your ‘day to day’
Strategic Process Management & Optimization
- Oversee and manage large scale or cross functional production processes that materially impact departmental results.
- Develop and implement strategies for production processes, supporting technologies, and documentation standards to ensure operational sustainability and long term efficiency.
- Lead efforts to establish and continuously refine processes that meet or exceed product quality-control strategies and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the design and optimization of high-impact manufacturing processes.
Project Leadership & Cross Functional Influence
- Manage major engineering projects with broad scope, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational targets, and budget priorities.
- Coordinate with product design engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and external partners to drive cross functional process improvements.
- Influence policies, procedures, and practices both within and outside the job function through expert guidance and analytical decision-making.
- Provide direction and technical leadership to junior engineers and related roles, supporting capability development across the function.
Advanced Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Identify and solve moderately complex, multi department production challenges using structured analysis, data insights, and engineering expertise.
- Drive systemic improvements to processes, systems, and products, ensuring changes are sustainable and well documented.
- Lead root cause analysis for recurring or high impact process deviations, ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions.
Compliance, Quality, & Documentation Ownership
- Ensure all processes and procedures meet regulatory standards and internal governance requirements.
- Oversee creation, maintenance, and improvement of technical standards, documentation, and process control systems.
- Provide expert guidance to product design engineering on specifications that align with manufacturing capabilities, compliance needs, and cost considerations.
Cost Management & Operational Efficiency
- Contribute to departmental budget planning and ensure execution aligns with financial goals.
- Identify cost reduction and efficiency opportunities across machinery, materials, workflows, and process designs.
- Lead initiatives to decrease process waste, production losses, and variability.
Who we’re looking for:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required; equivalent advanced experience may be considered
Experience
- Significant professional experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical fields, with demonstrated success managing large-scale projects.
- Broad and deep knowledge of production processes, machinery technical standards, and supporting technologies.
- Expertise in engineering project management, process design, risk assessment, and compliance.
- Strong capability in leading cross-functional initiatives and implementing complex process solutions.
Annual Base Salary Range: $ 120,000 - $150,000
