This position sits with our Swedish Match affiliate.

 

Your ‘day to day’

 

    • Assist in the development, review, and management of environmental policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while aligning with industry best practices and engineering standards.
    • Support daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections related to waste, water, and air compliance.
    • Assist in preparing and coordinating shipments of hazardous waste and materials in accordance with regulatory requirements.
    • Contribute to the development of environmental goals, objectives, and management systems for the facility.
    • Participate in environmental audits and regulatory inspections.
    • Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents and support corrective actions.
    • Provide education and guidance to employees on environmental policies and best practices.
    • Collaborate with management, employees, and third-party service providers to implement environmental programs.
    • Support data collection, entry, and recordkeeping for regulatory compliance and environmental initiatives.
    • Assist in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating environmental risks using professional knowledge and skills.
    • Maintain professional development by participating in ongoing training and staying current with environmental regulations and practices.
    • Support occasional weekend air monitoring and provide off-shift/on-call availability for environmental matters as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Who we’re looking for:

 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, safety, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered. Environmental or safety certifications are preferred.

 

Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of environmental experience preferred. Experience preparing or supporting regulatory environmental reports is a plus. Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems is preferred.

 

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrates strong customer service orientation and maintains a high level of confidentiality

 

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Environmental Regulations (40 CFR)
  • Occupational Health & Safety Standards (29 CFR)
  • Department of Transportation Regulations (49 CFR)

 

Physical / Other Requirements:

  • Ability to walk extended distances, climb ladders, and wear required personal protective equipment (including fall protection and respiratory protection)
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Capable of prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer


Annual Base Salary Range: $66,400 - $83,000
