We have a new Sustainability (EHS) Engineer vacancy in Neuchatel to shape and advance our Environmental, Health and Safety agenda at Philip Morris Manufacturing SA. You will work across production, laboratories and support functions, partner with leaders, employees and external stakeholders to drive operational risk reduction, strengthen compliance and embed Health and Safety practices into the way we operate every day.

In this highly visible role, you will lead and support Safety risk assessments, chemical risk assessments, incident and near-miss follow-up, corrective and preventive action implementation, internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities. Your expertise will contribute to creating a safer workplace and reducing environmental impact!

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and deployment of Safety training and awareness initiatives that build operational capability, accountability and consistent risk-based decision-making.
  • Partner with leaders, employees and cross-functional teams to strengthen EHS culture, promote sustainable behaviors and drive accountability across the organization to prevent injuries, illness and high-risk situations in the workplace.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing HS&E systems, processes and performance, reducing risks and supporting operational excellence.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental compliance requirements, sustainability topics and risk management practices, ensuring alignment with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and community partners, to support compliance, sustainability initiatives and environmental performance objectives.
  • Provide support on selected environmental sustainability topics when relevant to site compliance, operational risk management or local improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor evolving regulations, industry trends and best practices to anticipate future requirements, identify opportunities and reinforce sustainability leadership.

Skills & Capabilities

  • University Degree in Engineering (Safety, Environmental, Chemical, Process, EH&S) or related field
  • Experience or qualifications related to MSST/ASA, ISO 14001/ISO 45001
  • Experience working within a FMCG environment
  • Analytical thinker with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Solid understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental management systems and compliance requirements.
  • Strong experience in conducting risk assessments and leading incident investigations.
  • Strong project management and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
