Your ‘day to day’

As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the full lifecycle of embedded firmware development—from feasibility to design, implementation, integration, documentation, code review, and rigorous testing. Working alongside specialists in electronics, mechanics, industrialization, … you will lead the firmware development of our future aerosolization engine and related subsystems. Your work will span early prototypes through commercialization and ongoing product support. You will be at the forefront of firmware innovation for our next-generation devices, contributing to technical risk assessments and participating in DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

More specifically, you'l

• Architect, develop, and maintain embedded firmware in C code for microcontroller platforms (ARM Cortex-M on STM32 or TI MSP-M series) for battery powered consumer devices.
• Design and execute automated component and system-level tests to validate firmware performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with simulation teams (electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal, …) to refine firmware for optimal aerosol generation across the product lifecycle.
• Partner with the Patent team to secure intellectual property rights for your innovations.
• Provide deep technical expertise across firmware modules supporting core technologies in smoke-free product platforms.
• Lead detailed firmware design efforts in coordination with internal engineering teams and external development partners.

Who we’re looking fo

• University degree in Electronics or Software Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's or PhD level) or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated coding skills – Excellent knowledge in the programming language C/C++, in conjunction with real-time operating systems (preferred).
• Sound experience with embedded development toolchains, debugging tools and version control systems in a Continuous Development and Integration environment (Bash or Python scripting skills).
• Strong software debugging skills using JTAG, Emulator or Simulator.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers internal operations and hardware blocks (UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, DMA, …).
• Hands-on laboratory experience would be beneficial. Specifically experience with Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.
• Experimental approach mindset, oriented to quality of results with technical decisions taken based on objective data and demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Ability to work in an autonomous way and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various partners.
• Fluency in English both written and spoken.
