Your ‘day to day’
As the Manager of Direct Materials Procurement, you will lead a regional team responsible for delivering cost‑effective, value‑adding, and sustainable sourcing of materials across Latin America & Canada. You will ensure alignment with global category strategies, build a resilient supplier ecosystem, and drive continuous improvement while fostering collaboration, transparency, and forward‑thinking decision making.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of category leaders, fostering a culture aligned with PMI DNA.
- Build capabilities through structured development plans, continuous feedback, and empowerment.
Procurement Strategy & Execution
- Deploy global and regional sourcing strategies through data‑driven decision making and collaboration.
- Validate category strategies to ensure sustainability, competitiveness, innovation, and alignment with business continuity plans.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Define supplier KPIs, lead performance reviews, and manage key negotiations.
- Anticipate and mitigate supply risks to secure uninterrupted operations.
Agility & Cost Improvement
- Build and maintain a strong cost and cash improvement pipeline that supports PMI’s transformation ambitions.
- Lead cross‑regional harmonization and process simplification initiatives to drive efficiency and impact.
Standardization & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Drive specification and process standardization across direct materials.
- Work closely with QA, Supply Chain, GDDH, Finance, Fulfillment, and Operations Centers to ensure alignment and transparency.
Sustainability
- Promote and ensure compliance with PMI’s Responsible Sourcing Principles and sustainability commitments across the supplier ecosystem.
Who we’re looking for
Experience & Skills
- 8+ years in procurement or supply chain within multinational environments; experience in automotive or pharma and with tier‑1 suppliers preferred.
- People leadership experience managing teams of 3+ members, ideally within transformational or high‑performance environments.
- Strong category/commodity management background, including serial and/or project acquiring.
- Financial savvy, IP literacy, QA and contractual fundamentals. Exposure to External Affairs is a plus.
- Excellent communication, influencing, analytical, and project management skills.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and fast‑evolving environments, aligned with PMI’s agility expectations.
- Confident interacting with senior leadership.

Exposure to packaging materials (cartons, foils, printed components, molded parts) is valued, especially with:
- Understanding of packaging specifications and supplier capabilities.
- Experience partnering with QA, Product Development, and production teams.
- Ability to identify cost, productivity, and standardization opportunities.
