We are currently looking for a Sr Manager Crisis Management,. based in London or Lausanne, who will direct and oversee the development and execution of multiple, concurrent strategic crisis management programs. Advising and influencing market and functional senior management on critical business and/or reputational challenges, developing strategies and securing buy-in from around the business to manage those challenges. 

Key Responsibilities 

Crisis management  

  • Create, manage, and implement strategies to anticipate, plan for, and respond to special situations at market, functional and company levels, developing communications and other materials for use in crisis situations, ensuring alignment from SMEs.  

  • Direct problem solving and provide reasoned advice to senior management, including in unfamiliar situations and when supporting information is incomplete or unavailable. 

  • Interact frequently with and advise senior functional and regional management on issues critical to strategic objectives, securing buy-in and alignment from SMEs and senior management of other functions where needed. 

Risk Management  

  • Lead risk management and communications planning around prevailing issues and/or pre-planned campaigns/ events, developing proactive risk mitigation and management plans. 

  • Support implementation of reputation risk programs through directing research and providing guidance on mitigating or managing reputation risk around strategic business initiatives.  

  • Proactively identify potential risks, oversee social/ media monitoring and prepare communications strategies fully aligned with SMEs when issues arise, including submitting takedown requests, liaising with PMI teams to resolve and/or manage potential reputation risks. 

Training  

  • Lead strategic global crisis training and exercise program for Market Management Teams, developing new exercises for ongoing professional development, fully aligned with respective partner functions.  

  • Conceive new practices and processes to enhance the strategic impact of crisis management on the business. 

Functional development  

  • Maintain database and crisis management SharePoint site, managing permissions and access rights.  

  • Contribute to regular reporting to CCO/ SMT.  

  • Codify approach to specific scenarios into fully aligned playbooks for dissemination to market SSM teams.  

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • 8-12 years professional experience, with significant experience in risk, crisis management, or crisis communications.  

  • Demonstrated ability to operate with professionalism, composure, and thoughtfulness in high-stress situations with multiple stakeholders who have competing priorities.  

  • Demonstrated ability to operate with high levels of autonomy, creativity, and an ability to manage complex and ambiguous situations with little direction or process to follow.   

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts and messages in plain language.  

  • Experience or understanding of operating in a highly regulated environment, such as the tobacco /pharma industry/multicategory product portfolio.  

  • Fluent or native English / Any other language a plus - with ability to communicate clearly and concisely both spoken and written.
