ABOUT THIS ROLE

As Senior Manager External Affairs Strategy position you will be part of the Central External Affairs Strategy team, reporting to the Director External Affairs Strategy. Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Provide support in designing and deploying the External Affairs (EA) function's strategy  
  • Work closely with regions and markets to drive action at local level (from strategy design & planning to execution), acting as well as a bridge between external engagement functions (i.e., Communication and Life Science) and business strategy
  • Lead specific functional and cross-functional EA strategic projects.

YOUR ‘DAY TO DAY’

Contribute to the design of the long-term strategy for the External Affairs function:

  • Analyze operating environment to identify key shifts, strategic challenges and opportunities
  • Develop actionable insights by assessing overall PMI footprint from an EA perspective, progress to date, and impact of existing initiatives
  • Define relevant goals and objectives to support broader PMI ambition
  • Design innovative, actionable strategies and solutions to achieve objectives, integrated with other engagement functions of PMI
  • Design methodologies and toolboxes that enhance strategy execution at regional and market level

Lead strategy design and execution at market level, in coordination with Regional EA teams:

  • Support markets in translating the global EA strategy into relevant local objectives
  • Design improved or innovative solutions by leading problem solving and "out-of-the box" thinking 
  • Drive proper planning of activities and resources
  • Identify market needs and mobilize relevant stakeholders / SMEs to fill gaps (tools, resources, capabilities, ...)
  • Provide toolboxes that enhance market thinking and execution
  • Drive change management in the organization
  • Support markets in strengthening theirs strategic thinking and planning capabilities
  • Identify best practices in CA market plans and shares between regions and markets

Lead specific strategic functional and cross-functional projects linked to the Corporate Affairs Engine and Strategy:

  • Drive end-to-end project design (briefing, scoping, timelines, streams results, steering committee updates, stakeholder management)
  • Lead intellectual agenda, drive complex problem solving and designs innovative solutions
  • Drive execution (plans activities and resources, mobilizes stakeholders and SMEs, drives action and runs project governance)

Contribute to the development of materials addressed to PMI Board of Directors and Management Team

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Masters’ degree, ideally in STEM or Finance, Politics, Law and other relevant field
  • MBA as a plus
  • Mandatory: Min 10 years’ experience in Corporate/External Affairs, with first-hand experience in external engagement activities, preferably as market Head of Corporate/External Affairs in a regulated industry
  • Outstanding strategic thinking, problem solving and analytics capabilities
  • In-depth understanding of the dynamics driving political and regulatory agendas for regulated industries
  • Strong business acumen and project management skills
  • Fast learner, entrepreneurial, with a high degree of assertiveness and independence
  • Excellent collaborator with strong communications skills (written and oral)
  • Ability and passion to drive change in complex organizations
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and delivering under uncertainty
