We are currently looking for a Packaging Design Oral Products Lead to join our design team based in Lausanne, Switzerland, to be part of this journey of building the future of non-smoke-free brands.

 

In this position you will be responsible for envisioning, creating, and executing how our brands come to life within the world of packaging. Understanding and translating brand visual language, executing packaging graphic designs from ideation to print development. Working with a cross functional team to bring ideas to life and ensure the design and creative intention is followed throughout the process from ideation development to materialization. During this journey you will be working closely with the design, brand, business, and packaging implementation teams

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Creative-doing: is able to drive the creative process hands-on in all phases, from design brief, ideation and concept development to refinement and technical development / prototyping, across formats (incl. the expression for restricted markets), on specific projects or activities. This includes the ability to self-generate concept sketches, scenarios & mood boards, concept brainstorming and presentation.
  • Creative critical thinking: able to deliver compelling creative solutions that fully answer the brief (brand expression and storytelling) on all kinds of assigned packaging projects, spanning across: line extensions, limited editions, product launches, 2D graphics and 3D mock-ups and TDs.
  • Drive conceptualisation & define graphic design solutions for packaging that delight and inspire our internal partners and most importantly, with a holistic consumer-centric design ecosystem.
  • Execution across the line up: following an approved design concept, implement the design intent in the full lay out and across all the line ups, considering all the market requirements and health warnings specifications; develop design guidelines and versioning principles for effective deployment to the Packaging COE team to enable the “good to designs” execution and adaptation of the local “good to prints” when needed.
  • Design finesse: creatively pushing the boundaries of design projects with an eye for the latest standards & trends in packaging; be at the forefront of both, continuous improvement as well as the more exciting innovation programs. Knowledgeable about sustainable design and materials.

 

Design Delivery:

  • Deliver final packaging design files, technical specifications, mockups & color targets for global commercial deployment.
  • Direct development of packaging mockups with lead supplier, that are commercially viable and in accordance with Philip Morris' principles, whilst setting new standards in executional and operational excellence, ensuring design concept integrity.
  • Developing design briefs, co-creation and collaborating with the marketing and design team.

 

Who we’re looking for:

  • Bold portfolio with emphasis on branded/branding content, visual identities, and packaging designs that will be assessed on creative excellence, passion for detail and storytelling.
  • BA/BS and/or MA/MS in a relevant design field.
  • 3/5 years of relevant design experience (corporate /consultancy/agency), with proven success cases in the market.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing technologies and international packaging and design standards.
  • Holistic design expertise and hands-on design across design subject areas (3D and 2D packaging, graphics, brand, viz. ID, brand expression) with a background in Graphics and Packaging Design.
  • Fantastic communicator (verbal, written, and visual) with the ability to inspire , build consensus both within a cross-functional and design teams. Ability to present design vision and solution effectively with internal partners and drive decision making.
  • Collaboration mindset: Strong teammate with ability to actively promote information sharing, one team spirit, and leading by example and showing rather than telling.
  • Be empathetic: Demonstrate strong narrative and storytelling skills bridging our brand business and creative strategies with a holistic consumer-centric design ecosystem.
  • Excellent sense of form, materials, use of colour and creative expression with an affinity for how things are made, attention to detail, and a passion for quality from concept to execution with strong understanding of design both Packaging and Brand Expression Design.
