We are seeking a Director, Internal Communications Operations, to provide strategic communications counsel to the Chief Global Operations Officer and their leadership team. Operating with an AI-first mindset, this role ensures effective, consistent communication across the function and leads high-impact internal communication and engagement strategies aligned with the company’s vision and objectives.
The role also oversees executive communications for the Chief Global Operations Officer, including planning and delivery, in close partnership with Corporate Communications.
As a trusted advisor to senior management, the post holder will lead multiple high-impact internal communication initiatives and drive best practice across the function, including the adoption of new communication tools and approaches.
Key Accountabilities:
Communication Strategy Development
Develop and implement internal communication strategies and plans that support Global Operations and PMI’s vision, mission, and business objectives, leveraging strong business acumen and awareness of key priorities.
External Engagement
Partner with Corporate Communications to define and deliver external engagement activities, providing Operations perspectives, content, and proof points to support broader Corporate Affairs initiatives.
Strategic Counsel
Act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Global Operations Officer and their leadership team, providing expert guidance and tailored communication solutions aligned to business needs.
Internal Communications Leadership
As a senior member of the GIC team, lead the continuous development of internal communications capabilities across PMI, identifying and implementing innovative tools, practices, and solutions.
Team Leadership and Delivery
Lead and oversee the Global Operations Internal Communications team, setting strategic direction, ensuring high-quality delivery, and aligning activities with corporate and executive communications priorities.
Content and Channel Management
Oversee the creation, quality, and distribution of engaging content across internal channels, driving continuous improvement in channel effectiveness and reach.
Change Communication
Support Global Operations transformation and change initiatives by developing and delivering communication plans that drive understanding, adoption, and engagement.
Measurement and Insight
Define and apply measurement frameworks and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of internal communications, using insights to inform continuous improvement and demonstrate impact.
Employee Engagement
Promote a culture of open communication and engagement, ensuring employees are informed, connected, and aligned with the company’s purpose and priorities.
We’re looking for someone with:
Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field and / or equivalent skills demonstrated.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal communications, with at least five years of experience of managing global function / business unit communications
- In depth knowledge of communications best practice, with specific expertise in managing internal communications within a global, multi-cultural, matrix environment.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful internal communication strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience in delivering change management and employee engagement initiatives.
- Proficiency in using internal communication and AI tools and platforms.
