Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and conduct comprehensive legal assessments of recently enacted and upcoming regulatory developments related to sustainability, anticipate impacts on PMI and support business in preparing for compliance. Scope of regulations includes non-financial disclosure, greenwashing, human rights and modern slavery, due diligence and environmental matters (e.g., deforestation, climate change, nature, packaging, eco-design, plastic and post-consumer waste).
  • Provide legal support in relation to sustainability reporting and performance. More particularly, counsel - among others - on ISSB, CSRD, CDP, climate-related rules, ESG rating agencies (e.g., DJSI), sustainability performance assessments (e.g., Ecovadis), and modern slavery reports. Ensure alignment and consistency across all PMI sustainability-related disclosures.
  • Provide legal support to protect Company against greenwashing risks including by assessing laws and jurisprudence, providing trainings and reviewing Company -- consumer and corporate-- communications.
  • Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear, actionable recommendations and ensure legal compliance as it relates to the noted areas of law.
  • Actively collaborate and coordinate across L&C department on all sustainability-related matters, according to expectations set for the Center of Expertise.

 

Who are we looking for:

  • Law degree and admission to practice law (bar exam)
  • At least 5 years of experience with a demonstrated in-depth understanding of regulatory legal matters in relation to sustainability, particularly with EU regulations. Both in-house and major law firm experiences preferred.
  • Experience in sustainability/ESG reporting issues (e.g., CSRD, ISSB)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple conflicting priorities while managing a substantial workload and client expectations.
  • Capability to capture and summarize complex regulatory questions
