MAKE HISTORY WITH US
At PMI, we’ve chosen to do something incredible. We’re totally transforming our business and building our future on smoke-free products with the power to deliver a smoke-free future.
With huge change, comes huge opportunity. So, wherever you join us, you’ll enjoy the freedom to dream up and deliver better, brighter solutions and you will have the space to move your career forward in many different areas/directions.
About the team and ideal candidate:
To commercialize and scale PMI’s Reduced‑Risk Products and digital engagement platforms, PMI is building and evolving global and regional IT platforms supporting the full consumer and customer journey- from discovery and commerce through device registration, engagement, and after‑sales service.
As a Principal Tech Architect, you act as the architectural authority and integrator between:
- Regional delivery and engineering teams
- Global domain, platform, and enterprise architecture
- You are responsible for driving convergence to core platforms where appropriate, while enabling market differentiation only where it creates measurable business value-ensuring consistency, reusability, compliance, and long‑term sustainability of the IT landscape.
- You own and shape the regional solution architecture across PMI’s Region 2 markets for consumer and customer engagement domains, including web, e‑commerce, face‑to‑face engagement, omnichannel journeys, and customer care (B2C and B2B).
- You operate ahead of demand-engaging early with business and IT stakeholders to identify emerging needs, missing capabilities, and opportunities for standardization or innovation. Working closely with global domain architects and central business design leads, you translate strategy into executable, compliant, and scalable regional solutions.
- This role requires horizontal leadership: influencing without direct authority, guiding multiple delivery teams, and balancing strong local market demand with enterprise and regional priorities. You act as both a strategic architect and a hands‑on design authority, coaching teams while safeguarding non‑functional excellence (performance, scalability, security, extensibility).
JOIN US!
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Act as a part of the regional design authority, reviewing and approving regional and market solution designs.
- Present and defend Solution Outlines and key architecture decisions at Domain ARBs, technical councils, and governance forums.
- Establish and enforce regional architectural guardrails (e.g. CMS, CIAM, RIAM, integration patterns).
- Drive regional portfolio simplification and application rationalization, identifying opportunities to consolidate into global or regional platforms.
- Balance convergence toward core capabilities with justified, value‑based differentiation.
- Actively manage and reduce technical debt by embedding architectural improvement into delivery roadmaps.
- Lead As‑Is and to‑Be solution architecture for regional and market initiatives.
- Define clear, actionable architectural requirements for development teams and ensure conformance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support markets during major architectural change initiatives, migrations, or complex integrations.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership to resolve complex design or integration issues.
- Serve as a point of architectural coordination between region 2 markets, regional delivery teams, and global domains.
- Partner with global enterprise, domain, and platform architects to ensure alignment with enterprise roadmaps and standards.
- Foster strong collaboration across business strategy, product, design, engineering, data, IoT, and omnichannel teams.
- Promote and govern the adoption of AI‑driven design and delivery practices at regional and market level.
- Maintain a strong external view of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, translating them into tangible opportunities for PMI.
- Ensure security, privacy, and regulatory compliance (e.g. data protection, market regulations) are embedded into all architectures by design.
- Maintain high‑quality documentation of architecture decisions, solution designs, and patterns.
- Contribute to PMI’s centralized architecture knowledge base and community of practice.
