Role Summary

 

We are looking for a skilled and passionate DBT Cloud Engineer / Administrator to join our Federated Data Platform (FDP) team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, operating, and scaling dbt Cloud as a core transformation capability within PMI’s enterprise grade-, federated data ecosystem.

You will work closely with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Platform Engineers, Solution Architects, and Product Owners to enable reliable, secure, and scalable data transformations across multiple domains, regions, and business units.

This role combines hands-on engineering, platform administration, and enablement of self-service analytics teams operating- in a -data mesh -aligned- environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

 

  • Own the administration, configuration, and operation of dbt Cloud within the Federated Data Platform
  • Design, implement, and maintain dbt project standards, environments, and deployment patterns (dev, test, prod)
  • Manage dbt Cloud integrations with Snowflake, Git repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and orchestration tools
  • Define and enforce best practices for analytics engineering, including modular modeling, testing, documentation, and exposure management
  • Enable and support multiple domain teams using dbt Cloud in a federated, self-service- model
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of transformation pipelines
  • Support release management, environment promotion, and dependency management across domains
  • Collaborate with Data Architects to align dbt models with enterprise data architecture and data mesh principles
  • Embed security, access control, and governance standards into dbt Cloud usage
  • Contribute to cost optimization (FinOps) through usage monitoring and optimization recommendations
  • Work within Agile and DevOps practices, supporting the code you build and operate
  • Act as a technical advisor and mentor for analytics engineers adopting dbt

 

 

Background and Qualifications

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles
  • Proven hands-on experience with dbt (dbt Core or dbt- Cloud) in production environments
  • Experience with Snowflake, including warehouse design, performance tuning, and cost management
  • Deep understanding of ELT patterns, data modeling (Kimball, Data Vault, etc.), and analytics engineering best practices
  • Handson experience with dbt- Cloud administration (accounts, projects, environments, permissions)
  • Strong SQL skills; working knowledge of Python is a plus
  • Experience with Git based- version control and collaborative development workflows
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
  • Experience operating data platforms in cloud environments
  • Solid understanding of data quality, testing, documentation, and lineage concepts
  • Experience working in Agile teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with distributed, cross functional- teams
  • Passion for building reliable, scalable, and maintainable data solutions

 

Additional Experience Preferred or Helpful

 

 

  • Handson experience with dbt- Cloud administration (accounts, projects, environments, permissions)
  • Knowledge of data mesh or federated data platform architectures
  • Experience with Matillion or other ingestion/orchestration tools
  • Familiarity with Power BI / Microsoft Fabric from a data modeling or semantic layer perspective
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud services
  • Experience with data observability tools and operational monitoring
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Exposure to FinOps, cost observability, or usage analytics in data platforms
