The People & Culture Intern forms part of PMI South Africa’s Early Careers / Internship Programme, designed to provide meaningful, hands-on exposure across multiple HR disciplines within a dynamic multinational FMCG environment.
This role offers broad exposure across administrative support, employee experience, coordination, HR operations, and stakeholder engagement while enabling you to build foundational commercial, organisational, and communication capabilities.

Eligibility: Open to South African citizens only
Stipend: Monthly stipend offered

What You’ll Be Doing
Throughout the programme, you’ll gain practical exposure across multiple areas within the People & Culture environment, including:
Administrative, Project & Coordination Support
- Support day-to-day coordination activities across the People & Culture function
- Partner with HR Business Partners, the HR Director, and Centres of Excellence teams on ad hoc projects and business initiatives
- Coordinate People & Culture events, workshops, engagement initiatives, and team activities
- Prepare presentations, reports, and internal documentation
- Support onboarding and induction activities for new joiners
- Contribute to HR-related projects and cross-functional initiatives that support business and people priorities
HR Operations & Employee Support
- Support HR operational processes and employee-related activities
- Assist with employee communication and coordination initiatives
- Support the preparation and tracking of HR documentation and records
- Provide coordination support for employee engagement and wellness initiatives
- Assist with maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information professionally
Reporting, Vendor & Operational Support
- Support basic reporting, tracker updates, and data consolidation activities
- Assist with monitoring timelines, actions, and follow-ups across HR projects
- Support invoice processing activities related to third-party workers and vendors
- Engage with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding operational coordination and follow-ups
- Contribute to process coordination and workflow tracking
- Support internal stakeholder engagement and communication activities
Events & Team Support
- Assist with coordination of internal events, workshops, and People & Culture initiatives
- Support meeting preparation, venue coordination, and logistical arrangements
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external service providers in a professional and learning-focused capacity

Minimum Requirements
- Completed National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology
- Maximum of 2 years working experience
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Must be available to start immediately
- Ability to commit to a full-time 12-month internship programme
Advantageous
- Honours or Master’s Degree
- Previous internship, administrative, coordination, customer service, or HR-related exposure
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
