The External Affairs Sr. Specialist supports the Government Affairs & Sustainability function by contributing to the development and execution of external engagement, regulatory, and sustainability strategies. The role focuses on monitoring political and regulatory developments, supporting stakeholder engagement, preparing policy materials and submissions, coordinating sustainability and social contribution-related activities, and ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration to help advance the company’s Corporate Affairs objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the daily work of Sr. Manager Government Affairs & Sustainability.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of external engagement strategies to support the Corporate Affairs Team in reaching its key business objectives.
  • Monitors the political environment at national and EU level, follows global regulatory trends, and prepares political and legislative forecasts.
  • Participates in the preparation of letters and regulatory submissions to the government and authorities.
  • Supports the development of regulatory initiatives. Develops position papers reflecting PMI's interest.
  • Supports the preparation of meetings with key stakeholders and political decision-makers.
  • Actively supports cross-functional work with business functions and liaise regularly with them when developing and executing on CA strategies.
  • Coordinates and monitors administrative activities related to PMI’s social contributions, and anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies.
  • Coordinates sustainability projects, including data collection and alignment with internal stakeholders and PMI OC.
  • Coordinates and supports the organization of stakeholder engagement events. Monitors and coordinates external activities.
  • Supports the maintenance and development of a wide-ranging stakeholder relations network.

 

 

Education:

BA or MA degree preferably in political sciences, international affairs, economics, international law, or communication

 

Experience:

2-3+ years of professional experience in Public/Government Affairs within a multinational company or in the public sector

 

Skills and Competences:

  • Deep understanding of the public sector and the political stakeholder landscape influencing regulatory policy
  • Ability to effectively engage with government officials and public authorities
  • Navigate cross-functional challenges with minimal oversight
  • Advanced user-level knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail

Language:

Fluency in English and Hungarian (both spoken and written)
