1. Role Purpose
The Sr. Specialist – Integration (Tech Project Lead) is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and evolution of API-based integration solutions that enable PMI’s digital consumer ecosystem.
This role acts as a key technical authority within the region, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing integrations across platforms, while driving engineering excellence and aligning solutions with the broader Digital Product vision.
The position plays a critical role in connecting market needs with central architecture and product teams, enabling the delivery of seamless, consumer-centric digital experiences.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Integration Strategy & Architecture
- Define and continuously evolve the API and integration strategy in alignment with regional and global architecture guidelines.
- Collaborate with Domain, Group, and Solution Architects to ensure consistency, scalability, and reusability of solutions.
- Ensure all integrations adhere to defined architectural standards, while constructively challenging designs to drive improvements.
B. Solution Design & Delivery
- Lead the design and implementation of API-based integrations (REST, GraphQL) for complex, consumer-facing platforms.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of integration solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and product vision.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance and reliability.
C. Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence
- Act as the technical reference point for integration-related topics within the region.
- Promote best practices in API development, lifecycle management, and security.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of modern technologies (e.g., cloud, microservices).
D. Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and external vendors to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Build strong relationships across markets, regions, and central teams to ensure alignment and execution.
E. Team Enablement & Knowledge Sharing
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to engineers (without direct people management accountability).
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Ensure proper documentation, knowledge sharing, and reuse of integration assets.
F. Performance & Operations
- Monitor and optimize API performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of integration issues, ensuring business continuity.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and API lifecycle management practices.
3. Key Capabilities & Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Solid experience in API-based integrations and enterprise-level system design.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives in complex, cross-functional environments.
- Experience working in Agile environments (SCRUM, KANBAN, JIRA, Confluence).
- Experience in multinational environments is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in API technologies (REST, GraphQL).
- Proficiency in Java (preferred) or Golang.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Knowledge of API security, governance, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with tools such as Apollo GraphQL is a plus.
