THE OPPORTUNITY
In this role, you will serve as an integral member of Philip Morris Benelux External Affairs team, where you will manage and develop high-impact scientific engagement strategies for The Netherlands. You will act as a key subject matter expert in the execution of national scientific engagement projects and collaborate closely with the regional Scientific Engagement team and the national External Affairs and Communications teams.

This role will report to the External Affairs Director for the Netherlands, and work as part of a team to engage with stakeholders, and coordinate with internal business functions to design and implement strategies in support of the company’s objectives.
 

Responsibilities of the role:

• Develop strategic scientific engagement plans for The Netherlands, aligning with our vision and objectives.
• Identify and monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their relevance to the company.
• Build and maintain a solid network with dialogue partners and stakeholders in The Netherlands.
• Collaborate with the External Affairs and Communications teams to develop scientific content supporting engagement materials such as position papers.
• Act as a spokesperson of Philip Morris in The Netherlands: Communicate and defend our scientific positions on key issues.
• Provide support for Senior Leaders across the company to establish relationships with interest groups and other industry partners.
• Support and lead cross-functional projects on external affairs-related business issues.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor or Master degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., in the field of Public Health, Medicine, Life Sciences, or similar).
• Min 5 years of professional experience in scientific communication, external affairs, or engagement in a regulated environment.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to act as the bridge between scientific research, policy, and business strategy.
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and engaging messages.
• Ability to build constructive relationships and engage with external and internal partners at all levels.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.
• Flexibility to travel when required.
