We are currently looking to hire a Senior Health & Safety Specialist for our new Aurora, CO Manufacturing Plant
As a Senior Health, Safety & Sustainability Health & Safety Specialist, you will play a strategic leadership role in building a future-ready workplace where people and the environment are protected, empowered, and continuously supported
Your day to day’
- Lead the development and execution of the site's Health & Safety strategy in alignment with PMI’s global standards and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Partner with senior management to integrate Health & Safety into core business planning, operations, and performance management.
- Act as the site’s most senior technical advisor on occupational health, safety engineering, environmental compliance, and loss prevention.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve robust Health & Safety management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001), policies, and procedures tailored to the factory’s risk profile.
- Drive a culture of accountability by ensuring that roles and responsibilities for Health & Safetyare clearly defined and embraced across departments.
- Lead enterprise-level risk assessments, audits, and corrective action programs to proactively mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks.
- Provide expert guidance on emerging regulatory trends and technologies to maintain compliance and best-in-class performance.
- Ensure all contractors, suppliers, and external vendors adhere to PMI’s sustainability standards.
- Oversee the development and execution of Health & Safety training programs across all organizational levels—employees, contractors, and leadership—ensuring competency and awareness are maintained.
- Mentor and guide junior Health & Safety team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Own the integrity of Health & Safety performance reporting, ensuring accurate and timely KPIs are shared with local and regional stakeholders.
- Use data to drive decision-making, forecast trends, and present insights to executive leadership and global Health & Safety teams.
- Collaborate with engineering, facilities, and operations teams to ensure Health & Safety compliance and risk mitigation are fully embedded in the design, construction, and commissioning of all capital and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct technical reviews and approvals of equipment certifications, process modifications, and environmental impact assessments.
- Lead complex incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action planning.
- Champion the development and testing of comprehensive emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
- Drive environmental sustainability programs to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumption; deliver measurable improvements aligned with PMI’s ESG objectives.
- Participate in site budgeting and planning processes to secure resources for Health & Safety improvements, technology upgrades, and regulatory compliance
Annual Base Salary Range: $96,560-$132,00
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Sustainability roles within manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives, and manage complex projects.
- Deep understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, and exposure to EHS management platforms (e.g., Enablon, Intelex).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification strongly preferred.
