Your "day to day"

As a Territory Manager (internally known as a Territory Sales Executive), you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of retail customers across South Auckland. You will work closely with retailers to strengthen relationships, identify business opportunities, and deliver exceptional execution of PMI's commercial strategies in market.

This is a highly autonomous field sales role where you'll spend the majority of your time meeting customers, providing commercial solutions, and ensuring our brands and initiatives are executed to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail customers across your assigned territory.
  • Identify opportunities to grow distribution, visibility, and sales performance within customer accounts.
  • Deliver excellent execution of trade programs, promotional activities, and in-store initiatives.
  • Develop and implement territory plans to achieve sales objectives and commercial targets.
  • Analyse sales performance data and market insights to identify growth opportunities and business risks.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and maintain an effective call cycle across the territory.
  • Negotiate and influence customer outcomes in line with company objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activity and provide insights to support business decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to deliver commercial initiatives and improve customer outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and reporting through company systems and tools.

Skills

  • Demonstrates strong sales and relationship management capabilities.
  • Has excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Is highly organised with strong territory planning and time management skills.
  • Can analyse data and translate insights into commercial actions.
  • Takes a proactive and customer-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Has the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
  • Is confident building relationships with a broad range of retail customers.
  • Is comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Has experience working with CRM and sales management systems.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience in field sales, territory management, account management, business development, or a customer-facing commercial role.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales targets and drive business growth.
  • Experience building and managing customer relationships across a diverse customer base.
  • Understanding of retail operations, merchandising principles, and in-store execution standards.
  • Ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and performance metrics to support commercial decision-making.
  • Knowledge of sales planning, account management, negotiation, and customer development principles.
  • Experience within FMCG, consumer goods, retail, beverage, telecommunications, or other fast-paced commercial industries will be highly regarded.
  • Understanding of the South Auckland retail landscape and local market dynamics would be advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
