What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead strategic direction by monitoring political environments and developing proactive regulatory strategies.

  • Drive regulatory and fiscal affairs to ensure a level playing field and risk-proportionate frameworks.

  • Act as a spokesperson to position PMI as a responsible manufacturer and advocate for tobacco harm reduction.

  • Develop and execute communication strategies that align with global priorities and local needs.

  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with government officials, media, NGOs, and community leaders.

  • Provide expert consultancy to internal teams on external developments and media analysis.

  • Coach and develop team members to enhance lobbying, networking, and communication capabilities.

Who We’re Looking For

You are:

  • Experienced in external affairs, with 3+ years in a related role.

  • A strategic thinker with a strong understanding of NZ or Pacific Islands political processes.

  • Well-connected, with a robust network in government and business communities.

  • A confident communicator, both in spoken and written form.

  • A team leader—people management experience is a plus.

  • Educated to at least a Bachelor’s degree level.
